The 1920s not only succeeded in introducing cinema into the field of art and, in redefining the very idea of art, they also succeeded in making it the condition for its historical evolution. This issue of the Journal Écrans focuses on the roles played by painting, music, biopics, documentary, museums, literature, opera and auteur cinema, chosen as agents of its new artistic condition.
