D’une part d’indicible dans l’écriture de Salman Rushdie : Traduire la syntaxe du non-dit

Several scenes from Rushdie’s famous novel Midnight’s Children are remarkable in that the unspoken dimension they convey endows the text with an aura which suggests something inexpressible. The textual tension of these passages relies on a combination of syntactic devices which can’t be replicated in french. This study analyses the existing translation of the novel in order to identify the strategies that nevertheless allow the translator to preserve the unsayable part of the original text.
