Since Iranian and French young-adult literature occupy very different places in their respective polysystems, there are numerous difficulties when translating what is sacred in the Persian language into French. A sample group of five novels has been chosen. The place and the reception of these works in the Iranian context will be discussed. The translatability of the notion of the sacred will then be examined.
