Against the backdrop of the opposition between pure and impure replacing the sacred/profane alternative, this article presents human and divine relations as they appear in two short novellas from the end of the twentieth century, translated from Telugu to French. The presentation of these two unpublished texts also aims to illustrate a set of translation problems inherent to the radical otherness that the Telugu world contains.
