Le juste et le vrai dans L’Étranger

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Camus et l’éthique
  • Author: Planeille (Franck)
  • Abstract: “The just” and “the true” in The Stranger speak to us of justice but also of metaphysics. Meursault is confronted with these words, and attributes elementary meanings to them at first. Yet this simplicity leads to a debate on the conception of truth and raises the question of the difference between truth considered as the opening up of the being in presence (alètheia) and truth considered as the adequacy of intellect, judgement, and object.
