Faire mal et faire le mal
« Les méchants » chez Camus

  • Publication type: Article from a collective work
  • Collective work: Camus et l’éthique
  • Author: Doudet (Sophie)
  • Abstract: In this chapter, Sophie Doudet explores the representations of evil and its avatars in Camus’ fiction. They were crafted in a modern context in which morality had been abolished – notably by Nietzsche – and in which relativism rendered the designation of good and its antithesis difficult. Where is evil located for Camus ? Does enough common ground remain to establish an individual or collective code of ethics ? How does evil appear – or not – in this context ?
