From the production of Siegfried onwards, Jouvet called on major Parisian dressmakers to create costumes for his plays, notably for Giraudoux’s works, even though the published editions did not always mention them. His varied approach—whether he obtained dresses for the leads or the whole cast, or bought or hired them—raises a number of questions, since this commercial and artistic collaboration contributed to creating a certain image of the author.
