In this article we envisage the relation to the dictionary according to Georges Perros’s term “Littréature,” in so far as the Littré (for Ponge the dictionary par excellence) is both a tool, a “treasury” in which to discover the resources of the language, and a formal model, a model of writing - Ponge’s “logoscopy” initially manifests itself as an enquiry into the lexicon, which he identifies with the language itself. In this sense, the dictionary participates in the attempt to remake what we might one day be able to “legitimately” (or otherwise) call poetry.
