The causal power of music in magical rituals at the Renaissance

This contribution analyzes the causal power of music in the magical tradition of the Renaissance from Ficino’s De vita (1489). It proceeds with music and magic in Agrippa’s De occulta philosophia (1531), then analyzes the fundamental changes introduced in De sensu rerum et magia (1592) of Tommaso Campanella as well as some 17h century documents related to demonic magic and music.
