The paper deals with the construction of lexicographic definitions for intermediate-to-advanced learners of French as a second language in a university setting. The proposed definitions, which purport to be both learner-friendly and descriptively adequate, borrow the definition format developed within Explanatory-CombinatorialLexicology and adapt it to the specific needs of this population of learners.
