This article explains a methodology. The main issue is very well-known: the lexical ambiguity of deverbal nouns in French one reading at least of which refers to an event: activity, accomplishment, achievement in the terminology of Vendler 1967 to which we add states. To describe the various readings of the deverbal nouns under study, the article draws at least partly on four main disciplines, Morphology, Semantics, Lexicography and Lexicology, and two main methdologies in Linguistics, traditional Linguistics, which makes use of constructed examples, and Corpus Linguistics, which makes use of attested examples.
