  • Abstract: In 1844, the publication of three of Charles Nodier’s tales by Hetzel in Le Nouveau Magasin des enfants shows the growing editorial visibility of literature for young people. What role does Nodier play in this process during his lifetime ? His tales construct an ambivalent recipient, but the valorization of the childhood imaginary plays a primordial role in the establishment of a “dual credulity” at the heart of their reception while being part of a resolutely European literary history.
