Voyages pittoresques et romantiques : littérature et patrimoine dans la première moitié du xixe siècle

  • Abstract: On many occasions, Nodier drew parallels between his home province (Franche-Comté) and Scotland, which he visited in 1821. An examination of his travelogue Promenade de Dieppe aux montagnes d’Écosse, the volume of Voyages pittoresques devoted to Franche-Comté, and the article “Les Marionnettes” brings out parallels between these two regions on different levels: the expression and the construction of the picturesque, the relationship between the identical and identity, and ultimately the quest for ancestors.
