Paul Claudel was consul of France in Prag from the end of 1909 to the beginning of fall 1911. Baroque, Saint Wenceslas and music had a great impact on his stay, which can explain in Le Soulier de Satin, Doña Musique’s pray, as she is pregnant, in Mala Strana Church. We also know that Claudel read and translated english catholic writers while he was in Prag.
