The conference of Philippe Forest comments on the sentence inscribed on Paul Claudel’s grave and recounts how much dramatic was the death of his grandson Charles-Henri Paris in 1938 in his life and that of his family. Based on testimonies and confidences, he reflects on the reasons why the poet wished to bury this child in Brangues, near his own grave, and broadened his remarks to the question of the death of the child in Claudel’s work.
