Entre enjeu littéraire et enjeu historique

  • Abstract: Ysaïe le Triste is a late Arthurian romance; it is particularly interesting regarding the relationships between war and the sea. Many war episodes and maritime journeys find their place in the fictional framework and pertain to literary tradition. The iconographic representations of maritime travel and war confrontations in the manuscripts also highlight traditional inter-textual references. The naval war episodes introduce current issues of the years from 1338 to 1369 into the heart of this fictional work.
